YouGov is one of the biggest and best-known survey and research companies in the world. So, it comes as no real surprise that they have an online portal where you can make a little extra money doing surveys for them.
However, there are things you need to know before you make the plunge:
- You get paid points per survey. I’ve got to be honest, YouGov is a bit stingy on the points. Actually, it’s very stingy. You probably need to do about twice as many surveys as you do, with say Swagbucks, to get paid.
- There’s a referral program. I think if you want to make the best out of YouGov, you’ve got to get your friends and family signed up. Each time they earn points, so do you. This is a really good way of making everyone’s work go a bit further. Your family and friends also get bonus points whenever you get bonus points, so everyone wins.
- Your opinion really matters. Some of the surveys on YouGov are used to formulate political policies – that’s because government hires YouGov to run surveys. So, unlike many other sites of this type, you’re not just making marketers happy, you’re helping change the country for the better.
- There aren’t enough surveys to go around. I find you get a maximum of a single survey a day from YouGov. It’s not quite enough to make them a priority when you’re choosing your survey sites. Payouts are real but slow to happen.
Overall, My Conclusion On YouGov’s Panel
YouGov is a reputable company with a solid product. If you love doing surveys, you’ll enjoy doing theirs and your opinion really is important here. However, if you don’t have time to sign up for every survey site – this probably shouldn’t be on your list, it’s too slow to get paid on.
